Paper A complexity theory for non-local quantum computation Andreas Bluhm, Simon Höfer, Alex May, Mikka Stasiuk, Philip Verduyn Lunel, and Henry Yuen, Quantum 10, 2152 (2026). Non-local quantum computation (NLQC) replaces a local interaction between two systems with a single round of communication and shared entanglement. Despite many partial results, it is known…
Paper Learning thermodynamic master equations for open quantum systems Peter Sentz, Stanley Nicholson, Yujin Cho, Sohail Reddy, Brendan Keith, and Stefanie Günther, Quantum 10, 2151 (2026). The characterization of Hamiltonians and other components of open quantum dynamical systems plays a crucial role in quantum computing and other applications. Scientific machine learning tech…
Paper Entanglement in the Dicke subspace Aabhas Gulati, Ion Nechita, and Clément Pellegrini, Quantum 10, 2150 (2026). We provide a complete mathematical theory for the entanglement of mixtures of Dicke states. These quantum states form an important subclass of bosonic states arising in the study of indistin…
Paper Machine Learning Decoding of Circuit-Level Noise for Bivariate Bicycle Codes John Blue, Harshil Avlani, Zhiyang He, Liu Ziyin, and Isaac L. Chuang, Quantum 10, 2149 (2026). Fault-tolerant quantum computers will depend crucially on the performance of the classical decoding algorithm which takes in the results of measurements and outputs corrections to the errors…
Paper Multi-product Zeno effect achieving higher order convergence rates Tim Möbus, Quantum 10, 2148 (2026). The quantum Zeno effect is a fundamental mechanism for implementing the effective dynamics of projected Hamiltonian and Lindbladian systems. It approximates the target projected evolution by…
Paper On the significance of Wigner’s Friend in contexts beyond quantum foundations Caroline L. Jones and Markus P. Mueller, Quantum 10, 2147 (2026). There has been a surge of recent interest in the Wigner's Friend paradox, sparking several novel thought experiments and no-go theorems. The main narrative has been that Wigner's Friend high…
Paper Measuring Rényi entropy with an Echo Protocol Yi-Neng Zhou, Robin Löwenberg, and Julian Sonner, Quantum 10, 2146 (2026). We present efficient and practical protocols to measure the second Rényi entropy, whose exponential is known as the purity. Our approach is based on expressing the purity in terms of transit…
Paper On the Addressability Problem on CSS Codes Jérôme Guyot and Samuel Jaques, Quantum 10, 2145 (2026). Recent discoveries in asymptotically good quantum codes have intensified research on their application in quantum computation and fault-tolerant operations. This study focuses on the address…
Paper Query and Depth Upper Bounds for Quantum Unitaries via Grover Search Gregory Rosenthal, Quantum 10, 2144 (2026). We prove that any $n$-qubit unitary can be implemented (i) approximately in time $\tilde O\big(2^{n/2}\big)$ with query access to an appropriate classical oracle, and also (ii) exactly by a circ…
Paper Active Quantum Reservoir Engineering: Using a Qubit to Manipulate its Environment Marcelo Janovitch, Matteo Brunelli, and Patrick P. Potts, Quantum 10, 2143 (2026). Quantum reservoir engineering leverages dissipative processes to achieve desired behaviour, with applications ranging from entanglement generation to quantum error correction. Therein, a str…
Paper Decoupling local classicality from classical explainability: A noncontextual model for bilocal classical theory and a locally-classical but contextual theory Sina Soltani, Marco Erba, David Schmid, and John H.Selby, Quantum 10, 2142 (2026). We construct an ontological model for the theory known as bilocal classical theory [1]. To our knowledge, this is only the second time that an ontological model has been constructed for an e…
Paper Measurement incompatibility and quantum steering via linear programming Lucas E. A. Porto, Sébastien Designolle, Sebastian Pokutta, and Marco Túlio Quintino, Quantum 10, 2141 (2026). The problem of deciding whether a set of quantum measurements is jointly measurable is known to be equivalent to determining whether a quantum assemblage is unsteerable. This problem can be…
Paper Tight Bounds for Quantum Phase Estimation and Related Problems Nikhil S. Mande and Ronald de Wolf, Quantum 10, 2140 (2026). Phase estimation, due to Kitaev [17], is one of the most fundamental subroutines in quantum computing. In the basic scenario, one is given black-box access to a unitary $U$, and an eigenstate…
Paper Qudit Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt Inequality and Nonlocality from Wigner Negativity Uta Isabella Meyer, Ivan Šupić, Damian Markham, and Frédéric Grosshans, Quantum 10, 2139 (2026). Nonlocality is an essential concept that distinguishes quantum from classical models and has been extensively studied in systems of qubits. For higher-dimensional systems, certain results fo…
Paper Quantum Walks on Simplicial Complexes and Harmonic Homology: Application to Topological Data Analysis with Superpolynomial Speedups Ryu Hayakawa, Kuo-Chin Chen, and Min-Hsiu Hsieh, Quantum 10, 2138 (2026). This work investigates whether quantum walks on simplicial complexes exhibit quantum advantages. We introduce a novel quantum walk that encodes the combinatorial Laplacian, a key object refl…
Paper Temporal Coarse Graining for Classical Stochastic Noise in Quantum Systems Tameem Albash, Steve Young, and N. Tobias Jacobson, Quantum 10, 2137 (2026). Simulations of quantum systems with Hamiltonian classical stochastic noise can be challenging when the noise exhibits temporal correlations over a multitude of time scales, such as for $1/f$ n…
