Programming tools for Analogue Quantum Computing in the High-Performance Computing Context – A Review

Mateusz Meller, Vendel Szeremi, and Oliver Thomson Brown,

Quantum 9, 1927 (2025).

Recent advances in quantum computing have brought us closer to realizing the potential of this transformative technology. While significant strides have been made in quantum error correction…

Paper

Polynomial-Time Classical Simulation of Hidden Shift Circuits via Confluent Rewriting of Symbolic Sums

Matthew Amy and Lucas Shigeru Stinchcombe,

Quantum 9, 1926 (2025).

Implementations of Roetteler's shifted bent function algorithm have in recent years been used to test and benchmark both classical simulation algorithms and quantum hardware. These circuits…

Paper

All You Need is pi: Quantum Computing with Hermitian Gates

Ben Zindorf and Sougato Bose,

Quantum 9, 1925 (2025).

Universal gate sets for quantum computation, when single and two qubit operations are accessible, include both Hermitian and non-Hermitian gates. Here we utilize the fact that any single-qub…

Quantum Chaos and Universal Trotterisation Behaviours in Digital Quantum Simulations

Cahit Kargi, Angsar Manatuly, Lukas M. Sieberer, Juan Pablo Dehollain, Fabio Henriques, Tobias Olsacher, Philipp Hauke, Markus Heyl, Peter Zoller, and Nathan K. Langford,

Quantum 9, 1924 (2025).

Digital quantum simulation (DQS) is one of the most promising paths for achieving first useful real-world applications for quantum processors. Yet even assuming rapid progress in device engi…

Paper

Consistent circuits for indefinite causal order

Augustin Vanrietvelde, Nick Ormrod, Hlér Kristjánsson, and Jonathan Barrett,

Quantum 9, 1923 (2025).

Over the past decade, a number of quantum processes have been proposed which are logically consistent, yet feature a cyclic causal structure. However, there is no general formal method to co…

Paper

QRAM: A Survey and Critique

Samuel Jaques and Arthur G. Rattew,

Quantum 9, 1922 (2025).

Quantum random-access memory (QRAM) is a mechanism to access data (quantum or classical) based on addresses which are themselves a quantum state. QRAM has a long and controversial history, a…

Paper

Solving one-body ensemble N-representability problems with spin

Julia Liebert, Federico Castillo, Jean-Philippe Labbé, Tomasz Maciazek, and Christian Schilling,

Quantum 9, 1921 (2025).

The Pauli exclusion principle is fundamental to understanding electronic quantum systems. It namely constrains the expected occupancies $n_i$ of orbitals $\varphi_i$ according to…

Paper

Quantum error correction for long chains of trapped ions

Min Ye and Nicolas Delfosse,

Quantum 9, 1920 (2025).

We propose a model for quantum computing with long chains of trapped ions and we design quantum error correction schemes for this model. The main components of a quantum error correction sch…

Paper

Bounds in Sequential Unambiguous Discrimination of Multiple Pure Quantum States

Jordi Pérez-Guijarro, Alba Pagès-Zamora, and Javier R. Fonollosa,

Quantum 9, 1919 (2025).

Sequential methods for quantum hypothesis testing offer significant advantages over fixed-length approaches, which rely on a predefined number of state copies. Despite their potential, these…

Paper

Refuting spectral compatibility of quantum marginals

Felix Huber and Nikolai Wyderka,

Quantum 9, 1918 (2025).

The spectral variant of the quantum marginal problem asks: Given prescribed spectra for a set of overlapping quantum marginals, does there exist a compatible joint state? The main idea of th…

Paper

A Randomized Method for Simulating Lindblad Equations and Thermal State Preparation

Hongrui Chen, Bowen Li, Jianfeng Lu, and Lexing Ying,

Quantum 9, 1917 (2025).

We study a qDRIFT-type randomized method to simulate Lindblad dynamics by decomposing its generator into an ensemble of Lindbladians, $\mathcal{L} = \sum_{a \in \mathcal{A}} \mathcal{L}_a$, wh…

Paper

Topologically driven no-superposing theorem with a tight error bound

Zuzana Gavorová,

Quantum 9, 1916 (2025).

To better understand quantum computation we can search for its limits or no-gos, especially if analogous limits do not appear in classical computation. Classical computation easily implement…

Paper

Boundaries for quantum advantage with single photons and loop-based time-bin interferometers

Samo Novák, David D. Roberts, Alexander Makarovskiy, Raúl García-Patrón, and William R. Clements,

Quantum 9, 1915 (2025).

Loop-based boson samplers interfere photons in the time degree of freedom using a sequence of delay lines. Since they require few hardware components while also allowing for long-range entan…

Paper

Optimal Fermionic Joint Measurements for Estimating Non-Commuting Majorana Observables

Daniel McNulty, Susane Calegari, and Michał Oszmaniec,

Quantum 9, 1914 (2025).

An important class of fermionic observables, relevant in tasks such as fermionic partial tomography and estimating energy levels of chemical Hamiltonians, are the binary measurements obtaine…

Paper

A Graphical Calculus for Quantum Computing with Multiple Qudits using Generalized Clifford Algebras

Robert Lin,

Quantum 9, 1913 (2025).

In this work, we develop a graphical calculus for multi-qudit computations with generalized Clifford algebras, building off the algebraic framework developed in our prior work. We build our…
