Exact distinguishability between real-valued and complex-valued Haar random quantum states

Tristan Nemoz, Romain Alléaume, and Peter Brown,

Quantum 10, 2120 (2026).

Haar random states are fundamental objects in quantum information theory and quantum computing. We study the density matrix resulting from sampling $t$ copies of a $d$-dimensional quantum state…

Paper

On the dynamical Lie algebras of quantum approximate optimization algorithms

Jonathan Allcock, Miklos Santha, Pei Yuan, and Shengyu Zhang,

Quantum 10, 2119 (2026).

Dynamical Lie algebras (DLAs) have emerged as a valuable tool in the study of parameterized quantum circuits, helping to characterize both their expressiveness and trainability. In particula…

Paper

Efficient classical computation of the neural tangent kernel of quantum neural networks

Anderson Melchor Hernandez, Davide Pastorello, and Giacomo De Palma,

Quantum 10, 2118 (2026).

We propose an efficient classical algorithm to estimate the Neural Tangent Kernel (NTK) associated with a broad class of quantum neural networks. These networks consist of arbitrary unitary…

Paper

Catalytic entanglement transformations with noisy hardware

Hemant Sharma, Aleksandr Mokeev, Jonas Helsen, and Johannes Borregaard,

Quantum 10, 2117 (2026).

The availability of certain entangled resource states (catalyst states) can enhance the rate of converting several less entangled states into fewer highly entangled states in a process known…

Paper

A refined Frauchiger–Renner paradox based on strong contextuality

Laurens Walleghem, Rui Soares Barbosa, Matthew F. Pusey, and Stefan Weigert,

Quantum 10, 2116 (2026).

The Frauchiger–Renner paradox derives an inconsistency when quantum theory is used to describe the use of itself, by means of a scenario where agents model other agents quantumly and reason…

Paper

Quantum Doeblin Coefficients: Interpretations and Applications

Ian George, Christoph Hirche, Theshani Nuradha, and Mark M. Wilde,

Quantum 10, 2115 (2026).

In classical information theory, the Doeblin coefficient of a classical channel provides an efficiently computable upper bound on the total-variation contraction coefficient of the channel,…

Paper

Tensor Cross Interpolation of Purities in Quantum Many-Body Systems

Dmytro Kolisnyk, Raimel A. Medina, Romain Vasseur, and Maksym Serbyn,

Quantum 10, 2114 (2026).

A defining feature of quantum many-body systems is the exponential scaling of the Hilbert space with the number of degrees of freedom. This exponential complexity naïvely renders a complete…

Paper

Performance Guarantees for Quantum Neural Estimation of Entropies

Sreejith Sreekumar, Ziv Goldfeld, and Mark M. Wilde,

Quantum 10, 2113 (2026).

Estimating quantum entropies and divergences is an important problem in quantum physics, information theory, and machine learning. Quantum neural estimators (QNEs), which utilize a hybrid cl…

Paper

Hidden time-nonlocal Floquet symmetries

Sigmund Kohler and Jesús Casado-Pascual,

Quantum 10, 2112 (2026).

We investigate the Floquet spectrum of a detuned, driven two-level system and show that it exhibits exact quasienergy crossings when the detuning is an integer multiple of the energy quantum…

Paper

Lower bounds on bipartite entanglement in noisy graph states

Aqil Sajjad, Eneet Kaur, Kenneth Goodenough, Don Towsley, and Saikat Guha,

Quantum 10, 2111 (2026).

Graph states are a key resource for a number of applications in quantum information theory. Due to the inherent noise in noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) era devices, it is important…

Paper

Bosonic Quantum Computational Complexity

Ulysse Chabaud, Michael Joseph, Saeed Mehraban, and Arsalan Motamedi,

Quantum 10, 2110 (2026).

Quantum computing involving physical systems with continuous degrees of freedom, such as the quantum states of light, has recently attracted significant interest. However, a well-defined qua…

Fully optimised variational simulation of a dynamical quantum phase transition on a trapped-ion quantum computer

Lesley Gover, Vinul Wimalaweera, Fariha Azad, Matthew DeCross, Michael Foss-Feig, and Andrew G. Green,

Quantum 10, 2109 (2026).

We time-evolve a translationally invariant quantum state on the Quantinuum H1-1 trapped-ion quantum processor, studying the dynamical quantum phase transition of the transverse field Ising m…

From spin squeezing to fast state discrimination

Michael R. Geller,

Quantum 10, 2108 (2026).

There is great interest in generating and controlling entanglement in Bose-Einstein condensates and similar ensembles for use in quantum computation, simulation, and sensing. One class of en…

Operator space fragmentation in perturbed Floquet-Clifford circuits

Marcell D. Kovács, Christopher J. Turner, Lluis Masanes, and Arijeet Pal,

Quantum 10, 2107 (2026).

Floquet quantum circuits are able to realise a wide range of non-equilibrium quantum states, exhibiting quantum chaos, topological order and localisation. In this work, we investigate the st…

External quantum fluctuations select measurement contexts

Jonte R. Hance, Ming Ji, Tomonori Matsushita, and Holger F. Hofmann,

Quantum 10, 2106 (2026).

Quantum paradoxes show that the outcomes of different quantum measurements cannot be described by a single measurement-independent reality. Any theoretical description of a quantum measureme…
